Hey man, Pat your preceding Hutch News intern here, just looking through your blog. Nice work. Seeing Hutchinson through new eyes is pretty cool. It’s definitely not a perfect place, but they really do give you a lot of awesome assignments and the time to do them right. Kansas is a sweet place to shoot. I’m really missing that about the Hutch News right now. Anyway, best of luck with the rest of your time there. Cheers.

Nicely done buddy. I’m glad you got the opportunity and that you took it to a level well beyond anything your editor would have expected. You took a newspaper assignment and turned it into a shoot worthy of a gallery showing!

nice job! Love the kid in the front of line in the black and red leotard and the funny faces on so many of them. Hope the parents were pleased too! Which one made it into the paper?

I like the first one a lot. Usually I’m pretty reserved with the titled-horizon photographs but this one works well within its own context. There’s a lot of movement in the photo: the wind-swept hair, the daughter’s movement toward the mother, even the shovels creating the ‘x’ in the middle of the frame give off some instability.

Great job capturing that moment. It was probably a short one, too. One of those things you watch before you realize what you’re supposed to be doing.
